My name is Jatuporn, but everyone calls me Jum.

I grew up in Yantakhao, a small town in Southern Thailand. From a young age, I was the one grinding curry pastes for our family dinner — fresh, by hand, in a stone pestle and mortar. My recipes come from my mother and my grandmother. They were never written down. They were learned by doing, by watching, by tasting.

When I moved to the UK in 1992, I wanted my children to stay connected to their Thai heritage through food — the real thing, not a version of it.

That wish became Mae Jum. "Mae" means mother in Thai.

Most curry pastes you'll find have been changed for the factory line.
With added oils, preservatives, and shortcuts that dilute the flavor and processed fast to keep up with demand. Mae Jum honors tradition by stone-grinding herbs and spices the slow way, just like my grandmother taught me.

Natural ingredients, nothing added that doesn't belong and outstanding
aromatic flavors that will transport you to Thailand.
