Why does it taste so authentic...

I was born and raised in Thailand, where there was an abundance of herbs, spices, fruits and vegetables growing around my family home. It wasn't in a garden or vegetable plot, it was just here, there and everywhere! From a young age, I was often the one asked to blend the herbs and spices in a stone pestle and mortar, until my arm was about to fall off. I didn't enjoy it, but in hindsight, it taught me all I know.

Today, my family's traditional blend of newly harvested herbs are stone ground to make a fresh paste, which is combined with a mix of whole spices that have been pan roasted to extract the natural oils before being finely ground.

We do not add any sugar, oil, shrimp paste or any artificial preservatives, additives or coloring to our fresh blend which is then mildly pasteurized to retain the natural qualities and goodness so you can enjoy that distinctive aroma of fresh herbs and spices when you open the packet.

The best in UK

Finding true Massaman paste isn’t easy outside of Thailand. My Thai partner used to make his own (David Thompson recipe) but Mae Jum paste is very close to perfection there is no need to lose a whole day in the kitchen making pastes. Believe me this has the depth, the complexity, the perfect balance of flavour including tamarind and roasted spice you don’t usually find. As with every other paste we’ve tried (all of them!) we adore this taste of home, thank you!!

Delicious curry paste. Made up the base sauce to freeze and have in the freezer to use later for a veg curry. I am a huge fan of these curry pastes and have tried most of them. All great!

Just cooked the Massaman curry followed packet instructions and its watery and not much taste at all. It sais add 400ml water (thought that was a lot) now i'm thinking maybe only needs a splash of water. I think instructions need to be altered. Really disappointing

Delicious curry

The massaman curry was delicious and as it was for 8 people we were able to divide up and freeze for future days. Only downside. When Adding quoted amount of water it made it very “runny” so I had to thicken to desired amount myself. It is very labour intensive but as I am able to freeze 6 other portions it isn’t a problem.

Very excited to try as reviews so good. However instructions on packets differed greatly to those online which I discovered once I had made! Followed packet instructions resulting in watery tasteless sauce. Have made since using online instructions which was better. Instructions need addressing

I thought it was delicious, really easy to use and full of flavour, and if you're not cooking meat (eg using a veggie alternative or just veg) it's really quick. My partner wasn't as keen, as he thought that not being able to add fish sauce made a big difference to the flavour. So, advice on how to replace that with something else would be really welcome. I'll be buying again though.
